My favorite handmade mineral makeup from a local make up maker. Our daughter's book of beauty recipes. Her collection of colorful handmade soaps. All carefully gathered and arranged on our wood ironing board for some pretend dress up play. She had set up her own spa and I was the fortunate first free attendee. I'm usually playing with our toddler and his wood train set, playing tag with our 6-year-old or giving everyone a wild ride in the wheelbarrow. So playing spa was a great idea. All I had to do to play this? Nothing. Nothing at all. Just sit and get a relaxing beauty treatment. And share some valuable conversation and together time.
Our daughter's favorite, relaxing, healthy spa drink recipe? Cucumber water. Because she can easily make it herself and she loves to drink it. We first enjoyed it's fresh pick-me-up flavor at a spa resort in New Mexico. Also, try making handmade lotion for your own home spa indulgence—warm and wonderful when it's just been made (photo above right). Even if you don't have a child to indulge you with pampering... you can make the homemade lotion and the flavored waters below and treat yourself.
cucumber water
Fill a large glass jar with water. Add fresh sliced cucumbers. Cool and refreshing.
orange water
Fill glass jar with water. Wash an orange. Cut orange into wedges. Gently squeeze some of the juice from the wedges into the water. Drop the orange wedges into your drink. Colorful with a hint of orange flavor.
