Bringing fresh flowers into a child's room is a fun kid's room decorating project for the children to do by themselves.
A bouquet was given to each of our daughters from our neighbor, as a thoughtful thank you for brownies we baked and hand-delivered the evening before. Our little one was blooming with a beautiful idea—It was her wish to savor her blooms in her own room, instead of our usual place on the kitchen table. Both our daughters arranged their flowers beside their beds. Our older, naturalist, took the greens and ferns and our youngest daughter gratefully accepted all the big pink blooms in the trade.
Now, they can savor the sweet smell, and open their eyes to the good morning greeting of cheery blooms and greens. They brought the beauty that grows in the sunshine outside, in. The soft scents and colors imprint in their childhood memory; And the special moment of receiving the bouquets will too. A special gift of radiant happiness for them to enjoy all to themselves.
Flowers may also inspire artistic creativity; it did for our six-year-old, who made drawings of them (above). With a bouquet beside her pillow, she has many opportunities to see the insides and closeups of her very own flowers—to draw, investigate, and enjoy.
