Birthday cupcakes topped with campfire rings, a circle of stone candy-coated chocolates. When lit, the candles in the center became entrancing miniature campfires. Our creative touch were the cupcake stands. I borrowed from the children's play area—cherry tree blocks we stacked to varying heights. Then, each twig tower was topped with a homemade birthday cupcake.
Magical revelry, celebrating with our campfire birthday, began in the starry evening. We de'lighted' in the glow of our campfire cupcakes and a real outdoor campfire for homemade graham cracker s'more making.

Our daughter requested carrot cake cupcakes* for her birthday treats here; but your favorite cake or cupcake recipe can be used. We found our candy-coated stone candies at our local store, but I've seen them on one of our trips across the country as well. You can also find them online here (Amazon affiliate link). We used stone-colored jelly beans (Amazon Affiliate link. Remove the pink ones and use only the natural colors), Sunspire Sun Drops (These are naturally colored m&m's), dark brown cupcake liners, and white candles. Our natural tree blocks made into cupcake stands—completed our enchanting fire ring of campfire cupcakes.
On this birthday evening, blowing out these little campfires was truly magical.
*wordplayhouse tip for children who don't like walnuts in their baked goods: using a hand blender, puree the walnuts into the wet ingredients. Carrot cupcakes often call for walnuts. This is a sneaky way to keep those walnuts in the carrot cupcakes or other goods you bake—you won't be left worrying if the recipe will turn out if you leave them out altogether.
