If you have ever made something for your child—a precious little wearable you have sewn, a treehouse you have built, or birthday cupcakes you have baked—you will know. If you have watched with heart-swelling happiness your child's joy while they have worn, or loved, or eaten, or played with what you have made—you will know. You will know why I smiled outside, and in, upon seeing our children making wonderfuls out of something I carefully made, the envelope and heart card printables they were making valentines with.
We anticipated the colors appearing on the paper as we printed. We cut. They folded and placed the pop-ups inside the cards, and assembled the envelopes (with so much satisfaction in making(!) one's own envelopes). And then, so carefully, they wrote the names of their beloveds on the envelopes. Piles of envelopes. Piles of sweetness all stacked up. Waiting to give.
above Making sweet valentines, then taking time together for small-batch-made locally made sweetness—one of our young ones scoops ice cream as the others wait, making sure the bowls are doled out with fairest even-ness—as children often do. ©heather cahoon • wordplayhouse + you make do™
