Red, white, and blue activities and children's art projects for Independence Day, Flag Day, and Memorial Day. Celebrate and create while sharing the meaning behind these days Americans honor.
★
make a flag collage
Use a flag, or a photograph of one, for your children to guide them as a reference. Talk about the design of the flag. Count the stripes. Count the rows of stars. With toddlers (above), let them help select the colors needed to create their flag.
Use:
scratch paper or newspaper for stripes
blue and red paint
punched holes for American flag stars
★
make patriotic decorations
use our sailor printable kit to make a red, white and blue banner and straw toppers (we used the kit's sailboat flags for our straw toppers)
★
make a paper straw project
Cut paper straws into short lengths and string onto twine, ribbon or string to make straw necklaces or bracelets. Toddlers exercise fine-motor skills while stringing the straws onto the twine, and older children enjoy designing their own color patterns.
★
make patriotic popsicles
with our all natural popsicle recipe
★
share a simple picnic with the children
with our grab-and-go picnic ideas
★

let children create their own patriotic parade with wagons, bicycles, tricycles, flags, pinwheels, and streamers ★ make coffee filter fireworks ★ make a felt star garland ★ make a patriotic handprint project ★ make fruit star wands ★ visit the library to check out books on American history and the history of the patriotic holiday you are celebrating ★ attend a local parade
★
enjoy your creating, celebrating and honoring
